United Pet Group has expanded the recall of its Pro-Pet® Adult Daily Vitamin Supplement tablets for dogs. The entire list of recalled products can be found in the table below as provided by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which is aware of the recall. The expanded recall was issued on July 2, 2010. The recall was expanded to possible contamination of these additional products with Salmonella bacteria and include a wide variety of United Pet Group Pro-Pet® and Excel® brands for both dogs and cats. The products affected have an expiration date of “6/13” or before. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is also aware of the recall and have reported it on its website. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning on January 14, 2010, about Merrick™ Beef Filet Squares. The affected product was manufactured at the Merrick™ Pet Care plant located in Amarillo, Texas, and was distributed nationwide through Internet sites and local retail stores. The reason for the recall was due to possible contamination by Salmonella bacteria. The product is marked with a package best by date of 11-19-11.
