Thumb Oilseed Producer’s Cooperative in Ubly, Michigan, has recalled 40-pound bags and 1,500-pound totes of its soybean flour, as well as .08-ton loads of bulk soy meal, on October 4, 2011. The items in question are used to make animal food and are thought to possibly be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.
The lots of soy flour in question include 40-pound bags under the names Nex Soy, lot numbers TF112310 to TF033011, and Soy Beginnings, with a product code of 285100-NFB and lot numbers TF112310 to TF033011. The 1,500-pound totes were sold under the name Soy Beginnings, with a product code of 285100-NFT and lot numbers TF112310 to TF082311. The .08-ton loads of bulk soy meal were distributed with lot numbers O011711 to O081711.
Signs of Salmonella infection include lethargy, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting in pets and diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever in humans. If a customer thinks that either they or their pets have come into contact with or been infected with Salmonella, they should contact a health professional immediately.
