On February 5, 2014, Pro-Pet® LLC announced a recall of some of its dry dog and cat food. The reason for the recall was due to potential contamination of the product by Salmonella bacteria.
This was determined after a single field test by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) indicated the potential for contamination among products manufactured on the same production line within a two-day period. As a result, the company decided to issue a recall of the affected products in the interest of customer safety.
The products in question were distributed through retailers and distributors in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. The affected products come from the following brands: Hubbard Life®, Joy® Combo, and QC Plus®. The recalled products include:
