Petrus Feed and Seed Stores, Inc. has issued a recall of one of its products on December 14, 2011. The affected product was contaminated with aflatoxins, which are naturally occurring mycotoxins.
The recalled product includes 40-lb bags of Petrus 21% Protein Dry Dog Food manufactured at the Cargill® manufacturing plant in LeCompte, Louisiana, between the dates of 12/1/10 and 12/1/11. The associated packaging date codes/lot numbers are 4K1011 through 4K1335 and were sold at Petrus Feed and Seed in Alexandra, Louisiana.
If you notice your pet showing any of the following symptoms of exposure to high levels of aflotoxin, including lethargic activity, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or yellow tinted eyes or gums, seek the help of a veterinarian.
