Mars Petcare US announced a recall on June 30, 2012, for three of its Pedigree® canned products. The products were recalled due to potential choking hazards presented by small blue pieces of plastic that have found their way into the products during the manufacturing process.
The UPCs that make up the recalled products include:
- Pedigree +® Healthy Weight Premium Ground Entrée in Meaty Juices, UPC 2310034974
- Pedigree® Weight Management Meaty Ground Dinner Beef & Liver Dinner in Meaty Juices, UPC 2310001913
- Pedigree® Weight Management Meaty Ground Dinner Chicken & Rice Dinner in Meaty Juices.
Each of the above products also has a lot code printed on the end of the can that either begins with 209, 210, 211, or 212. The “best by” date on the affected products also falls between 2/24/2014 and 3/23/2014.
The products in question were distributed across the United States, and Mars Petcare US worked with its various retailers and distributors to make sure the affected product was removed from inventory and is no longer being sold.
