A man from Newcastle saved his dog “Ditch” on Tuesday. He ran into his burning house to save him. Mark Woodbury went to a nearby store to grab some fishing supplies, and when he returned home his house was in flames,
“The first thing I thought of was Ditch. There was no way I was going to let my dog burn to death,” Mark said.
He ran into the house but was forced back 2 times due to the heat and smoke, finally on the third time Mr. Woodbury tripped over Ditch, He grabbed his rescue dog and took him to his driveway to resuscitate him. A paramedic that soon came on the scene used a mask ventilator to bring the dog back to life.
Dith was taken to the nearest vet ER and was in stable condition thanks to his owner and the paramedics on the scene.
“My dog is everything to me,” Mr Woodbury said.
“I’ve lost all of my kitchen, all of my appliances, my laundry, my furniture, but it’s my dog, that’s the important thing.
“He would have died in there if I hadn’t gone in.”
Mr. Newcastle has lived in the same house for over 8 years and lives with his wife and 3 kids. Fortunately the family was not home when the house caught fire.
