Diamond® Pet Foods has announced a recall of its Kirkland Signature® Dog Food sold at Costco on May 4, 2012. The recall was issued due to possible contamination by the Salmonella bacteria.
Kirkland Signature™ products included in this latest recall expansion included:
- Super Premium Adult Dog Lamb, Rice & Vegetable Formula with “best by” dates 12/9/12 through 1/31/13
- Super Premium Adult Dog Chicken, Rice & Vegetable Formula with “best by” dates 12/9/12 through 1/31/13
- Super Premium Mature Dog Chicken, Rice & Egg Formula with “best by” dates of 12/9/13 through 1/31/13
- Super Premium Healthy Weight Dog Formulated with Chicken & Vegetables with “best by” dates 12/9/12 through 1/31/13
- Super Premium Maintenance Cat Chicken & Rice Formula with “best by” dates of 12/9/12 through 1/31/13
- Super Premium Healthy Weight Cat Formula with “best by” dates 12/9/12 through 1/31/13
- Nature’s Domain Salmon Meal & Sweet Potato Formula for Dogs with “best by” dates of 12/9/12 through 1/31/13.
As a further identifying feature, bags of the recalled Kirkland Signature® products have a “3” in the 9th position and an “X” in the 11th.
The states that received the recalled Kirkland Signature® products included Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia. Locations in Canada and the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico also received shipments of the recalled products.
Signs and symptoms of Salmonella infection in pest include lethargy, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, fever, and diarrhea. If you detect these symptoms in your pet, visit your local veterinarian for assistance.
