A recall was issued by Diggin’ Your Dog™ on March 7, 2013, for one lot of the company’s Strippin’ Chicks™ Pet Treats. The reason for the recall was the potential for contamination by Salmonella bacteria. The affected product was distributed in Nevada and Colorado, where the samples that led to the recall were obtained. The product involved in the recall includes 5-oz bags of Strippin’ Chicks™ Pet Treats with a lot code of 250322 and a “best by” date of 2-23-14.
Salmonella can cause a variety of symptoms in infected pets, including fever, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. Pets might also display lethargic behavior and loss of appetite. If pet owners notice any of these symptoms in their pets, they should take them to a veterinarian for treatment.
Humans who come into contact with infected pets or contaminated products should wash their hands thoroughly. If they notice they are suffering from any of the above symptoms, they should also seek immediate medical attention.
To receive a full refund, customers who bought the recalled product should mail the UPC and lot code to Diggin’ Your Dog, LLC, PO Box 17306, Reno, NV 89511. In addition to the MSRP of the product, consumers will also receive $1 to cover postage.
