A recall was issued for Diamond® Pet Foods Natural Lamb Meal and Rice dry dog food on April 6, 2012. The recall was issued due to possible Salmonella contamination of the products in question.
The affected items include the following Diamond® Naturals Lamb and Rice products: 6-lb bags with production code DLR0101D3XALW and a “best by” date of January 4, 2013, 20-lb bags with production code DLR0101C31XAG and a “best by” date of January 3, 2013, 40-lb bags with production code DLR0101C31XMF and a “best by” date of January 3, 2013, 40-lb bags with production code DLR0101C31XAG and a “best by” date of January 3, 2013, and 40-lb bags with production code DLR0101D32XMS and a “best by” date of January 4, 2013.
Salmonella infection in pets can cause decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain, as well as lethargy, diarrhea, and vomiting if left untreated. Pet owners should contact their veterinarian if they think their pet has been exposed to Salmonella.
The product was sold to customers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.
