Claudia’s Cuisine issued a withdrawal of its 7.5-oz Dog Candy Blueberry Hound Cake and Dog Candy Holiday Hound Cake on December 7, 2012. Manufactured for PetSmart® Corporation, the product was distributed to 36 states, including Arizona, California , Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

The product was recalled due to the potential for mold to form within the dog food items. This was mainly from packaging the product while it was still warm, leading to the potential for the formation of mold. As a precaution, the product was withdrawn from the shelves of the 130 PetSmart® stores it was shipped to, and a recall was issued for any of the products sold.

Customers who bought 7.5-oz bags of either Claudia’s Cuisine Dog Candy Holiday Hound Cakes or Dog Candy Blueberry Hound Cakes should look for a “best by” date of 08-2015, as well as a UPC of 692614010058 on the Blueberry Hound Cakes and a UPC of 692614010041 on the Holiday Hound Cake Packages.
