PetSmart™ has issued an update of its November 4, 2009, recall of Dentley’s™ Choobles 10-Pack Beef Hooves UPC 73725736055 and Dentley’s™ Bulk Cattle Hoof UPC 73725703323 products. The updated recall was issued on November 10, 2009. FDA Recall Pet Carousel™ Treats

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a special health alert on November 5, 2009. The alert warned consumers about pet treats manufactured by Pet Carousel™, located in Sanger, California, contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The products in question include pig ears and beef hooves distributed to retail and pet food chain stores. The affected products include the following brand names sold in both bulk and retail packaging: Pet Carousel™, Doggie Delight™, Dentley’s™, and Choo Hooves™. PetSmart™ Recall

On November 4, 2009, PetSmart™ issued a recall for two of its Dentley’s Beef Hooves™ products. The affected products shipped from the company’s Pet Carousel plant in Sanger, California, to three of its distribution centers located in Newman, Georgia; Groveport, Ohio; and Ottawa, Illinois. The affected products include Dentley’s Bulk Cattle Hoof™, UPC number 73725703323 and Dentley’s 10 Pack Beef Hooves™, UPC number 73725736055. Both products were manufactured between October 2, 2009 and November 3, 2009. Wysong Expanded Recall

Wysong™ Corporation, which operates out of Midland Michigan, issued an updated recall on October 27, 2009, for its Wysong dry extruded dog food brand. The affected dates include batches manufactured during the months of June, July, and August 2009. The original recall was issued on October 12, 2009. The recall was expanded due to additional batches being found with mold contamination. The batches affected include Wysong Maintenance™ lot numbers 090617, 090624, 090706, 090720, and 090817; Wysong Senior™ lot numbers 090623 and 090811; and Wysong Synorgon™ lot number 090629. Wysong Recall

Wysong Corporation of Midland, Michigan, issued a recall for eight different batches of Wysong dry extruded dog foods on October 27, 2009. The batches were produced during the months of June, July, and August 2009. The affected batches include Wysong Maintenance dry extruded dog foods with lot numbers 090617, 090624, 090706, 090720, and 090817. Also affected are Wysong Senior products with lot numbers 090623 and 090811, as well as Wysong Synorgon with lot number 090629. NUTRO® Recall

Nutro Product, Inc. made an announcement on September 30th, 2009 that they have recalled their NUTRO® dry dog and cat food products. The reason for the recall was due to melted plastic found within the production line of many of the NUTRO® dry food products. In the discovery of this contamination, Nutro Product, Inc. retrieved the affected food products for their distributors, leaving 3 SKU’s that may have reached the retail shelves. The deliveries of the specific SKU’s made its way to a few PetSmart and Petco retail stores.
