A recall was issued for Diamond® Pet Foods Natural Lamb Meal and Rice dry dog food on April 6, 2012. The recall was issued due to possible Salmonella contamination of the products in question. Grocery store chain Price Chopper® posted a recall on its website of select varieties of Iams® pet food for cats and dogs on November 25, 2010. Inexplicably, the notice was removed from the company’s website on Sunday, November, 27, about midday. FDA Issues Dog Treats Warning

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning on November 18, 2011, to customers about the consumption by their dogs of chicken jerky products. The FDA stated that the products, also sold additionally as chicken tenders, treats, or strips, could be associated with illness among dogs. The warning came after an increase in the number of complaints the federal agency had received over a 12-month period of illness associated with the consumption of chicken jerky products originating in China. Thumb Oilseed Producer’s Cooperative in Ubly, Michigan, has recalled 40-pound bags and 1,500-pound totes of its soybean flour, as well as .08-ton loads of bulk soy meal, on October 4, 2011. The items in question are used to make animal food and are thought to possibly be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.
