WellPet® LLC issued a recall for its recipe for large breed puppies on May 4, 2012. The recall was issued because of possible Salmonella contamination at Diamond® Pet Foods’ Gaston, South Carolina, plant where the product was produced. While the majority of the company’s products are produced in its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant, this particular run was made at Diamond® Pet Food’s plant. On May 5, 2012, Diamond® Pet Foods expanded an earlier recall to include nine batches of its dry pet food formulas. The recall was a precautionary measure that included batches of dry pet food formulas made between the dates of 12/9/11 and 4/7/12. Possible Salmonella contamination is cited as the reason for the recall. In an expansion of an earlier recall, Diamond® Pet Foods has added some products from their Diamond® Puppy Formula dry dog food to the list. The updated recall was issued on April 30, 2012, after sampling revealed the probability of the Salmonella bacteria in the affected product. Diamond® Pet Foods expanded an earlier recall of some of its products shipped from the company’s Gaston, South Carolina, plant. Issued on April 26, 2012, the recall was updated to include certain products of Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul™ Adult Light Formula dry dog food. The reason for the recall was due to possible contamination from Salmonella bacteria. One bag of the product tested positive for the bacteria, so the recall of four production codes was carried out.
